Before |
To be honest I ADORE the way they turned out - but I will be buying a new pair of moccasins that I will not paint... yet... because after painting them I realized that I can no longer wear them with my green skinnies! And that was a banging outfit!!!
See below for my Honestly WTF DIY attempt (and success!!!) at Colour Blocked Moccasins:
You will Need:
- Moccasins- Fabric Paint
- A Sponge Brush
- A Paint Brush
- Tape (optional - this is used to hold back the top flap if your laces do not actually undo as I learnt mine do not!)
- Paper Towel or Newspaper
Method:
1. Either untie your lace and pull back the flaps or tape them back like I did2. The first shoe I painted was not the one I photographed - I initially put the paint on a paper towel and then painted it near the top of the flap; to ensure I like it and if I didn't I could just turn the flap down. I did like it so for the next side I just plopped the paint on the shoe itself
3. Use the brush to paint the fabric paint over the top of the shoe and get into the crevices near the stitching
4. Use the sponge to even out all the paint
5. Let dry for 3 hours
6. Rock the sh*t out them! :)
NOTE: As am more MacGyver than Martha I did not have either type of brush so I used an old (cleaned) makeup brush and a brand new clean makeup sponge... and as you know tape instead of the untie method a la Honestly WTF.
I am aware they are massively beat up!! - you can see my PJS in the corner!!! |

Voila!! |
Part of my outfit of the day! After much mixing and matching I find violet and hunter green (on top not bottom!!!) look good! |
Make sure you share any pics if you try this at home!!!
Xoxo Chantilly!!!
