Dear
Chantal,My 5th anniversary with my husband is fast approaching and I recently dropped quite a bit of baby weight. We are going to dinner and I want to show him I still have what it takes to turn a few heads. I am most happy with my legs and arms. I do not like skirts and would prefer only dresses to be shown. Also if possible can you show what makeup would suit each look? Can you also include a look that you would wear? – Patti
Hello Patti! Congratulations on your anniversary and dropping your baby weight – that is something to be proud of!! Unfortunately I forgot to number the looks but I will go through each look and why I made the choices I did!
1.
Leather & Lace: Leather and lace are one of
my favourite combos – the leather is sexy and the lace is sweet. The neck and arms of this dress will
definitely showcase your arms and the fit and flair bottom will accentuate those
gams. Accessory wise I chose a lace minaudiere, simple gold pyramid studs and a
pair of Christian Louboutin Un Bout 120mm. The translucent area of shoe is the
sexiest part. When I search for similar shoes online all I can find are stripper
shoes... and I do not think that is what you are going for! However, I can help
you with the dress. Forever 21 has 2 options that have a pleather top area of
the dress here
and here
and here is my favourite option by Top
Shop. I would love to see this dress with a small top knot, matte
red lips and a top of mascara.
2.
Coral Illusion: The best part of this dress is
the illusion; with the sides being a different colour it appears you have an
hour glass shape. If you do not want a colourful dress Top
Shop has a great black alternative, and of course Forever
21 has one to die for. The illusion dress I own is nude with black sides;
it was a steal from Sirens. This dress is neutral enough to pull off a fabulous
snakeskin clutch and gold strappy heels. Men love strappy heels, well.... make
sure to get a pedicure first!! Add this look with some very soft makeup and you
are good to go! Orgasm by NARS
is my go to blush.
3.
VaVaVoom Red: I don’t think anyone can think
sexy without picturing red! A cowl neck is amazing on a slinky dress like this as
it highlights your chest area and makes it appear very lush. I tried to make
this look as affordable as possible so you do not need any alternatives. The
dress is $56 from www.janenorman.com
and the shoes
are $80 from Aldo. The clutch is $56 but you can find a great gold clutch for
far less at any mall, the Michael Kors watch is the priciest part of the outfit
at $400. I would love to see the woman wearing this with Veronica Lake waves with
makeup that makes her look like she is swathed in candle light. (We all know
candle light is the most flattering of all lights!) To get the candle light
look simply apply an illuminator where the light hits over very opaque
foundation, 5-6 coats of volumizing mascara and a quick swipe of Hervana Blush.
4.
My Look – Baroque Beauty: I love love LOVE
baroque print, I think it is very romantic. This outfit may not be typically
sexy but believe me it will turn heads. The
mesh of the sleeves is alluring and the shape of the dress is very lady like(think
Mad Men) and accentuates the best parts of a woman’s figure – her curves! A dress like this needs a very luxe fabric and
velvet is the perfect way to go. I am
obsessed with this House of Harlow 1960 Velvet
clutch and the shoes by Stella McCartney. This
dress is very similar but is missing the key baroque print. I added simple
stacked thin gold band rings for minimal jewelry. Again I would pair this look
with a bun – ideally a large sock bun – and, TONS of mascara and dark lipstick
for a gothic fashionable feel.
Have an amazing dinner – as always the links to the items are
below.
XOXO Chantilly
